REVIEW: SOMETHING GOOD by best-selling author Vanessa Miller is an amazing and phenomenal book. This was my first time reading a book by this author and it certainly won’t be the last time. I promised myself this year that I was going to open myself up to reading different genres of books besides romance. Vanessa Miller didn’t disappoint me at all with this book. It grabbed me from the very first page until the ending. I finished this book in a few hours and I just sat afterwards thinking about my life.
SOMETHING GOOD explores the lives of three different women brought together by one incident that changes the lives of all three women. Alexis Marshall, Trish Robinson and Marquita Lewis are the women whose lives have changed. The story begins when Alexis gets the text that her mom is missing from the nursing home while she’s driving to pick her kids up from school. She then calls her husband to tell him he has to pick them up. Her phone dings again and she takes her eyes off the road for a second and the unthinkable happens. Trish Robinson is at the end of her rope because of caring for her son Jon-Jon who was in an accident with basically no help from her husband Dwayne. She wonders about the challenges that are going on in her life. She breaks down and starts praying to God and crying. After this breakthrough, she sees a red cardinal sitting outside her window. You will know the significant of this after you read the book. Marquita Lewis has had a hard life and when she gets fired from her job and she gets evicted from her home, she’s at her wits end about how she’s going to take care of herself and her baby. She thinks that Jon-Jon is going to love her and pursue a relationship with her when he goes back to college, but he plays her. One day, she shows up at the home of Trish Robinson telling her that they have a grandchild. Is this the something good that Trish and the other ladies have to look forward to? You will have to read SOMETHING GOOD by Vanessa Miller to find out!
What I absolutely loved about this book was how emotional that it was. I was all in my emotions. One minute I was crying and then in the next moment I was laughing and mad. I also loved the storyline and how it moved so seamlessly. I loved how new friendships were formed between the ladies. It was one scene in the book that had me crying hard and thinking of my Momma. I broke down myself and started crying. I love how Mrs. Miller dropped some gems in this book about forgiveness, loving yourself and friendship. One important gem that she dropped was to keep your faith in God.
Overall, I enjoyed reading SOMETHING GOOD. This is one of my top reads so far for 2022. This was definitely such a feel-good book. Make sure to grab a copy of this amazing book.
