Review: Bloom Where You're Planted
The Friendship Chronicles (Book #2)

Harlequin Special Edition
Shirley Fleming (A)
REVIEW: Jennifer Pritchett and Nick Carrington have been together for three years. Unfortunately, they seem to do the same thing every week and have fallen into a rut. There is no spark in their relationship. It’s gotten to the point where Jennifer can predict how their evenings together will go. Jennifer feels her friends are living their best life, leaving her behind while she appears to be going nowhere fast. She loves Nick and couldn’t see her life without him, but something needs to change if the two of them will make it in the long run. Jennifer craves excitement and a passion-filled love life with Nick like it was in the beginning. Will Nick and Jennifer put forth the effort to turn things around, or will they go their separate ways?

Jennifer is a thirty-year-old woman rethinking her career and personal life. She is not happy with the state of her life and seeks to change it. And, of course, she has the support of her close friends to help her through it. However, Nick, her long-term boyfriend, is initially uneasy about changing their relationship. But he loves Jennifer and wants her to have what she needs as long as he is not left behind.

BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED is about a woman at a crossroads in her personal and professional life. It’s not your typical romance novel, although love is included. Instead, it’s more of a self-discovery for Jennifer to figure out the rest of her life. She has been a third-grade teacher for several years, yet she doesn’t love her job. Likewise, her relationship with Nick is at a standstill and a little boring. However, this story is well written with likable, interesting characters, especially Jennifer’s friends. The author did an excellent job of showing how their relationship gradually developed into what Jennifer and Nick both wanted.

BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED is a good book about a woman reshaping her life to her specifications. I recommend this book for your reading pleasure. In addition, you may gain some sage advice from reading Jennifer and Nick’s story. Because sometimes, we all feel the need to make some changes in our life for the better. Happy reading.
