REVIEW: Allow me to introduce to some and present to others a promising author, Kenya Goree-Bell, and her latest Contemporary Romance creation, RAPPER’S DELIGHT. This is my first read by her, and I find the story that features Delightful Howard, a talented writer and FADE Carrington, a world renown Rapper, a worthy effort. The story delivers a fresh view of an old familiar romance trope, Second Chance Love. Can Delightful and FADE recapture love after twelve years of separation? There’s a lot at stake as you will discover when you read the story.

Delightful and FADE have known each other since they were kids. Delightful, FADE and their siblings, especially her brother, Justice, have a special connection through the music business that goes back to their teen years when they were making their mark in the entertainment industry. From the opening pages of the Prologue, I was drawn into this story. The Prologue serves as a flashback to a tragic event that caused Delightful to part from the love of her life. How do you fix twelve years of non-communication caused by perceived betrayal? It’s not going to be easy, that’s for sure. FADE has his work cut out for him, if he expects to close the deep breach between him and Delightful. Will the passion and chemistry that still exists after twelve years be enough to help? Will their efforts to work together on a story about Justice, Delightful’s brother and FADE’S best friend, fill the hole in their relationship? No spoilers here. The couple’s journey is worth the read. While the story structure is solid and fresh, there are some errors, word usage and grammatical, that stand out. They could have easily been eliminated by more thorough editing.

I love the side characters, many of whom are family and friends of the heroine and hero. They contribute to the intrigue of the story and the development of the main characters. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing some of them again with their own stories, like Delightful’s sister, Lovie-Belle or FADE’s sister, Flower. I love the names the author created for her characters: Willow, Lyric, Miracle, Sadiq and Ghadi (who should have been Ghandi). You’ll get that and the meaning of FADE’S moniker when you read the story. The Epilogue that houses the HEA is epic!

I enjoyed
RAPPER’S DELIGHT, The Mogul Series (Book #1) and I recommend it for your reading pleasure. It’s always nice to get in on the first book of a new series.
