REVIEW: If you are looking for a short holiday read to help get you in the Christmas spirit, or if you are like me, you love Christmas romances, then this is the book for you! Meet the 2020 Scrooge of the year, Sienna Turner and the spirit of Christmas personified in Jake Hollidae. Great last name! I chuckled at the State Farm reference. You’ll get that when you read the story.

Talented author, Joy Avery, regales her readers with a well-written story and a plot-twist that validates her place among the great storytellers of romance. The story begins at the official beginning of the holiday season, Thanksgiving.  Sienna has 25 sweet potato pies to bake. That’s a lot for someone who doesn’t even cook, moreover bake. Sienna finds herself in conundrum, that is, until Jake shows up at her door. It’s a set-up by Sienna’s sister, Evelyn. Jake is the owner of Hollidae Electric, and he is hired by Evelyn to install Christmas lights on the outside of Sienna’s house. Let the fireworks begin! A couple of things occur at that first meeting: 1. They are captivated with each other, and 2. Sienna and Jake do not see eye-to-eye on celebrating Christmas. Their past stories, which influence their present life, are intriguing. Infidelity plays a role, at least for one of them.

The minor characters, family and friends of Jake and Sienna, contribute to the intrigue of the story and the development of the main characters. The Wait..What! Award goes to Janet, Jake’s sister-in-law. No spoilers here. You have to read the story to discover why. My favorite scene is the “War-of-Words” between Jake and Sienna’s ex-husband, Malcolm: Jake 1 Malcolm 0. The HEA is a testament to forever over fling!

HOLLIDAE FLING is an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable holiday story. I recommend it for your reading pleasure.
