REVIEW: Author Iris Bolling never fails to give readers an entertaining and equally intriguing story that deals with affairs of the heart.  In her The Heart Series we have been introduced to some very complicated and compelling characters - good and bad. One such character is Carolyn Roth-Roberts, the heroine, and one of the most dynamic characters of this series. Prince LaVeré Ashro of Emure is the hero figure, and “the last man standing”. (You’ll get that when you read the story.)

If you are familiar with this series, then you know that politics, and government scandal is alive and well. The African American President, JD Harrison, his advisors, security team, and officials have their hands full because just as one crisis is solved, another pops up. In this story, LaVeré, the Harvard educated African Prince, finds himself in the middle of a major government calamity when he is asked to serve as the Ambassador of Emure to the United States. When Senator John Roth, the father of Carolyn, meets with LaVeré to convince him to serve, something happens that will set the wheels in motion for a story that includes an intense, suspenseful plot and a sensual romantic plot. Of course, the suspenseful arc calls for the incredible skills of the Lassiters, and the romantic arc tracks the romantic journey of LaVeré and Carolyn. Added to that is the long-awaited showdown between Akande and Roc. There’s more, but it’s better when you read it yourself.

One thing you can count on from an Iris Bolling story is the eclectic and unforgettable cast of characters that inhabit it. She is a master at including characters from previous stories. The relationships between the characters are solid and continuous; characteristic of a great series. Not only that, but each book can be read as a stand-alone. Each is a complete full-length story in its own right. However, you will miss an important aspect which is understanding the back stories and the relationships between all of the characters. I love a good series, and
The Heart Series is a good one!

THE HEART ALWAYS WINS is a story that embodies love, family, drama, murder, and government intrigue at the highest level. At the end of the book, an election is eminent, so you know the next book is going to be a sizzler. There is also an HEA that is a testament to the idiom that the “heart always wins”. Great story, and I recommend it.
