REVIEW:  SWEET SUMMER DAYS is a well-written, engaging story that embraces the familiar trope of second-chance love. It also reunites us with the lively and entertaining Gray family. Long time friend of the Gray family, and former Vice President of Gray Home Safety, divorced Thaddeus “Thad” Whitcomb meets the widowed Celeste Williams.

While the premise of a mature man and woman finding love again is quite sweet and makes for a great read, there is much more to this story than that. Author, Sheryl Lister, once again inserts some serious subject matter into her storyline that gives it substances and food for thought.  While Ms. Lister is a prolific writer of all things romantic, you can always count on her to give you something to think about, or perhaps shape change. Thad and Celeste are a delightful, sexy and admirable couple. I enjoyed their love journey, but it’s in the journey that we discover love journeys can be complicated. Thad and Celeste eventually reach their HEA, but not until they deal with issues of forgiveness, and health both physical and mental. No spoilers here, but these life issues help to make this story special, and the love between two adults sweeter.

Speaking of sweet…the music playlist that can be created from this story is outstanding. Obviously, the author is a music fan. The protagonists, Thad and Celeste, are music lovers, who are always listening to music or attending a concert. The artists mentioned will have you visiting your favorite download site to add to your collection. I suggest you reread the story with the playlist you create from the artists mentioned in the story. So cool!

I love being reunited with the growing and spirited Gray family. Babies are popping out all over the place. Besides the Gray crew, there are some secondary characters who are worth mentioning. Celeste’s family members play a significant role in the story. For example, Deborah, Celeste’s sister and confidant and Deborah’s son, TJ, are vital to the storyline and help to make it more interesting and relatable.

SWEET SUMMER DAYS is an excellent story. I enjoyed it, and I think you will also. That’s why I am recommending this novel for your reading pleasure.

[Side Note: If you would like to read Thad’s backstory in more detail, I suggest picking up a copy of GIVING MY ALL TO YOU- Book 3 of the Gray Family Series. Enjoy!]
