REVIEW:  A POWERFUL ATTRACTION, by Delaney Diamond, is the first book in the Quicksand series. Ms. Diamond calls it the Quicksand series “because love pulls you in. The more you fight, the deeper you fall”.

The book focuses on Sherry Westbrook and her boss Alex Barraza. Things really kick off when Sherry is unfortunately stood up for a date. Alex is at the right place at the right time so they have dinner together, which leads to so much more. Unbeknownst to each other, Sherry and Alex have secretly had feelings for each other since Sherry started working for the company two years ago. Alex has been trying to remain indifferent about his attraction but at some point, over the course of the evening, they both give in to it.

Sherry and Alex fall for each other fast. On the surface, this is a book about a boss and employee who have feelings for each other. As we read on, we find out things go so much deeper than that. Because of a set of circumstances, Alex is hiding a key piece of information. It’s interesting how Ms. Diamond let’s this play out. Sherry is bold and daring in some instances, but also reserved in others.

Ms. Diamond highlights not only the power of attraction, but also the power of love, true friendship and dedication. I liked seeing the brief connection to the Brooks family series. The secondary characters also round out the story. However, I felt there was an unresolved issue when I finished the book. Despite that,
A POWERFUL ATTRACTION was a very good, quick read and I would recommend it.
