REVIEW: LOCKED IN TEMPTATION is the third book in The Protectors Trilogy by Brenda Jackson. In the previous two books we met Qusar and Striker, and now we get Stonewall Courson and Detective Joy Ingram’s love story.

Stonewall and Joy’s story is one that was well worth the wait, literally. Stonewall and Joy have been trying to go out on a date for almost half a year, but in between their jobs and hectic schedules, they haven’t been able to make that happen. They finally get their shot at a date and Stonewall goes all out. I was definitely impressed with his out of the box thinking.

From the first date on was like a love story beautifully written. Stonewall is a former convict who was imprisoned because he was an unwitting getaway car driver when his friends decided to rob a convenience store. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but because he was hard headed and angry, he ended up staying for an additional three. He met Sheppard Granger and his best buddies, Quasar and Striker, while in prison. Upon getting out, he began to work for Roland Summers who has a security firm.

Joy Ingram is a detective, someone who walks the straight path. Basically, she is someone you cannot envision dating, let alone falling in love with, someone who spent time in prison. Sure, she’s sweet and has a take no crap mentality; but a cop and a convict? Yet, Mrs. Jackson does a great job in showing that your past does not determine your future (and is not the sum total of who you are) when she wrote their love story.

The plot is simple, Joy discovers a baby making ring and goes full force in identifying and breaking up the ring. Obviously when you have something of this magnitude, the players involved in the shenanigans are all people with too much money, power, and influence and time on their hands. This, of course, means that Joy is in danger…and you know what that means. The man in her life, Stonewall, is now in overprotective mode. There’s nothing like the woman you are interested in being in danger that makes you realize how you feel about her and the lengths you’ll go to in order to protect her. That happens to Stonewall, and he immediately volunteers himself to be Joy’s personal bodyguard when the first attempt on her life happens.

Throughout the story you get a chance to see Stonewall and Joy’s love develop, strengthen and come to the forefront. You get to see how they surrender to love and how they become stronger as a couple.

Brenda Jackson did an amazing job writing this story. From the plot, dialogue, flow, and character development everything came together to create a book that is most definitely one that I can see myself rereading…in fact I’ve already reread it twice. If you’re looking for a good book, you can’t go wrong with
