SYNOPSIS: Andrew Yates has come to a decision: it's time to stop sowing those oats and start a family. But searching for a bride isn't as simple as he'd hoped, and many of the respectable women of his acquaintance feel . . . lacking. Then beautiful, feisty Wilhelmina "Billie" Wells arrives at the family ranch with a toddler in her arms, claiming Drew is the father!
REVIEW: Whilemina “Billie” Wells is spirited and unapologetic about whom she is. On her own since age fourteen, Billie learned to survive by her wits and good advice from unlikely sources. Her one weakness is the gentlemanly and handsome Andrew “Drew” Yates. Drew is genuinely fond of Billie and finds quiet joy in being with her. While Billie and Drew share a lustful business relationship, Drew is well aware of his family obligations and the time has come for him to marry a “proper” lady with the appropriate pedigree. Several months after their parting, Billie finds she has only one viable option left to save herself and the life of her recently born son. Now Drew has to make a decision that will change the fate of many. But most importantly, will Billie accept this destiny?

In
DESTINY’S SURRENDER, Jenkins weaves the intriguing historical facts of 1880s California with fascinating characters to create a spellbinding story. Billie is an unconventional heroine, her strong, sassy, spirited and independent personality, making her one of my all-time favorite heroines. While often a little rough-around the edges watching her journey as she learns her own self-worth is enjoyable. Drew is as charming or ruthless as he needs to be to get what he wants. I delighted in his journey, as he learns to love Billie in a way that is acceptable to her. The couple’s explosive love scenes match their personalities inside and outside of the bedroom.

The strong cast of secondary characters and storylines adds richness to the reading experience.
I enjoyed how the characters and situations reflected the distinctiveness of the times as people forged new perceptions and beginnings to match the challenges of a being a relatively new state of the Union.

DESTINY’S SURRENDER is a masterly written story about destinies, passionate love, strong family love, with a dollop of mystery and intrigue. It  is the second book in the Destiny series, following DESTINY’S EMBRACE. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the third book in the series.
