REVIEW: When Delita “Lita” Woods meets Eldridge “Trey” Hampton III, you just know that it’s only a matter of time before they become involved. They meet innocently enough, and they are definitely attracted to each other. North Carolina is the setting for this entertaining story. I mention it because it sets the stage for Pleasure Cove, the fictional coastal town of the author’s Pleasure Cove Series. At the restaurant where the couple meet, they have no idea that they have more in common than just their ages, and the fact that they are meeting “friends” for dinner.

As it happens, Trey is meeting his son, Jamil, and Lita is meeting her daughter, Tameeka. Coincidence? I think not. Jamil and Tameeka are involved. There’s only one person who is completely clueless about their relationship, and that person is Lita. The scene at the restaurant is one of the best scenes in the book. So much is revealed about the characters and their past and present situations. Initially the present situation appears to be disappointing to Trey and devastating to Lita. Their children have apparently gone off the rails. No tea will be spilled here, but I will say that it leads to a very eye-opening  family reunion of sorts in Pleasure Cove.

The minor characters play their roles well as they contribute to the intrigue of the story and the development of the main characters. Lita has a crew of girlfriends who call themselves the Living My Best Life Club. I can see each club member with her own story in the future. The HEA for Trey and Lita is wonderful!

I enjoyed reading
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU because it is very relatable to readers of a certain age like myself. The hero and heroine are not Millennials or Gen Z, but they are Baby Boomers who are mature, and looking for love in all the right places. Kudos to talented author Reese Ryan for an entertaining, well-written story about sexy, attractive grown folk who, as the author says, “find their soulmate in the next chapter of their lives”. High-five, Ms. Ryan!

I recommend
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU for your reading pleasure. It’s a first-rate addition to the line of quality Black romance and women’s fiction stories that are published by Rose Gold Press. They are top-of-the-line stories “about us and for us”.
