ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
REVIEW: SINCEER: The Secrets We Create is Book #7, of the conclusion of the Once Upon a Murder Series. The prologue is written from Monique Rivers’ point of view and confirms she is pure evil. We learn one of the reasons why Sinceer married Monique in the first place. He thought she was misunderstood like he was. The way she takes advantage of Sinceer’s vulnerability and the lengths she goes through to deny him happiness, including a family, is truly sad.
We know from Book #1 that Sinceer was released from prison after being cleared of a triple homicide he didn’t commit. He is not as gullible as Monique thought but is strategically putting plans in place to cover his and his friends’ tracks when the time is right. Ms. Green provides Sinceer’s perspective from two months prior to Monique’s disappearance when he got together with his cousin Pharaoh Crowne. The Crownes take care of their own and let’s just say the Crowne organization has Sinceer’s back.
Pharaoh also helps Sinceer gain clarity on his feelings for his former correctional psychiatrist, Echo, and how he is able to just “be” when he is with her. He finds true love in her and she loves him for who he is. Echo supports him no matter what and we see their love continue to grow in this book. Ms. Green sums up how they feel about each other by saying that their souls knew what their physical beings needed to figure out. That was a word!
Each book is written from a certain perspective. In Sinceer’s book we see the background of how his idea to handle Monique comes to fruition. He could not be at peace if she is around as she continues to harm him and others once they split. Executing his part of the plan is more of an emotional cleansing because of how much Monique is embedded in his life. There is a lot of symbolism, (I will never listen to the lullaby “hush little baby” the same again). You will have to read the book to see how Sinceer’s part of the plan came together.
I loved the couple’s night with Gavin, Khalil, Knox, and Sinceer and the women they love. They’ll always have each other’s backs, and I can see them singing one of their throwback football hype songs and celebrating milestones for many years to come. This collaboration exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend reading the series to find how these friends found love, their revenge and their redemption.
