REVIEW: If I recall, I recommended that you stay tuned for Part II of this series. Well, it’s here. The Fabulous Four writing crew composed of Angela Seals, Elle Wright, Sherelle Green, and Sheryl Lister has released Books 5-8 of this compelling series, Once Upon A Murder. If you remember, leading man, Khalil Kane, was one of four prime suspects when Black River Falls’ despicable heiress, Monique Rivers went missing. Ironically, Khalil is a detective in Black River Falls, and the scion of one of the most notorious crime families in the country. Talk about straddling two worlds.
The story opens two months before Monique goes missing. Monique is that character with no redeeming qualities at all. Her family runs the town through unscrupulous means, and Monique takes full advantage of every underhanded and manipulative course she has at her disposal of getting people to do her bidding. I’ll allow you to discover how she pulls Khalil into her deceitful web. I love this part of the series because what really happened to Monique is finally revealed. Hold on to your readers, fans! It is a doozy that involves a plan and a pact. Khalil, along with his life-long friends, Gavin, Sinceer, and Knox, who have their own books, and who also were suspects in her disappearance, discloses everything. Absolutely no spoilers!
THE SECRETS WE CREATE is also a love story with a mix of revenge and redemption that produces a well-written story. I will caution you that you need to read the books in order. If you have not read books one through four of the series, you need to do that now.
With all the mayhem, secrets and messiness happening, Khalil manages to have a love interest. Her name is Willow, and she is credited with helping Khalil “believe in love again.” You’ll get it when you read the book. The Epilogue houses an ending that is perfect for Khalil and Willow.
I highly recommend the Once Upon Murder Series for your reading pleasure. Angela Seals does a fantastic job in giving us more insight to the character, Khalil Kane. I love the creative and intriguing storyline that will have you turning pages and shaking your head. Just make sure you read the now eight-book series in order. Each book is a Novella that can be read in one sitting. You can thank me later.
