REVIEW: Elaine Hart is a woman on a mission. Her family's California orange groves — Hartland Orchards — are in financial trouble, and she is absolutely determined to save them. The last thing she has time for, especially after the messy end of a difficult relationship, is any kind of romantic entanglement. Then she meets David Cole, the serious-minded banker assigned to collect on her family's delinquent account — the very man who holds her family's future in his hands.

The problem? She cannot help being drawn to him, and he is fighting the exact same losing battle. What unfolds is cute, original, and genuinely charming — a romance rooted in real stakes with characters who feel refreshingly grounded.

Elaine is the kind of heroine I root for immediately — strong-willed, fiercely loyal to her family, and complicated enough to feel real. David is steady and principled, and watching two people who have every professional reason to keep their distance slowly and helplessly fall for each other is a delight from start to finish. The California orchard setting gives the story a warmth and originality that sets it apart — it is not a backdrop you encounter often in romance fiction, and Dalia Dupris uses it beautifully.

HER ONLY CHANCE is a fresh, engaging start to the Chance Romance Series, and I look forward to whatever Dalia Dupris brings next.
