REVIEW: The second book of the award-winning Sharon C. Cooper’s Priestly Family Series is here! Have you met the Priestly family of Chicago, Illinois? Israel and Virginia Priestly are the parents of Nyla, Cree, Dorian, Essence and Zion (the only male sibling.) Nyla was featured in the first book, BELIEVING IN YOU. In the second book, Zion is featured as the LMC, and we are introduced to Raven Shepherd who is the LFC, and five years older than Zion. Can you say older woman-younger man? Zion is a Chicago police officer, and Raven is a Virtual Assistant. She is also the woman whom Zion regrets letting her get away after a memorable night in Vegas without getting her full name. After about a year after that “one and done” in Vegas, guess who shows up in Chicago at the Priestly B&B with twins?
I love how this story begins. Zion does not have a clue that the woman he can’t forget has checked into his family’s B&B, along with her babies, Andrew and Zanaya who are about three months old. I’m going to allow you to do the math. The scene where Zion and Raven come face to face is priceless. Zion aka Andrew (his middle name which he used to introduce himself to Raven in Vegas) is stunned, and Raven is speechless while Virginia, Zion’s mother, is in grandmother heaven! You’ll get that when you read the story.
After the initial shock wears off for both Zion, Raven, and the Priestly family members, the storyline gets very intriguing in true Sharon C. Cooper’s style. I love the unhinged sinister character who tries to insert himself into the lives of Raven and her twins. Of course, Zion is not having it, and he calls on Wiz, the computer genius of Supreme Security, Chicago. Now, the fans of Sharon C. Cooper require no explanation here. The connection is obvious.
Christopher, whom Raven refers to as G-Pop, is an endearing and wise minor character who plays a significant role in the outcome of this story. He is the grandfather of Raven’s unscrupulous ex, Maximus… no endearing qualities at all. Speaking of outcomes, I love the HEA for Zion, Raven, and the twins.
Who is next in the Priestly family saga to get their own story? I don’t know for sure, but Dorian, Zion’s sister and his best friend Lynix are seen together. Hmm… maybe they are up next.
I highly recommend this series by the talented and creative writer Sharon C. Cooper. I enjoyed both books, and I look forward to reading more stories starring the Priestly family siblings. Get a copy of FINDING YOU. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. You can thank me later!
