REVIEW: I love it when a plan comes together. One of the best tropes that showcases this is the fake relationship. The premise starts out simple: faking a relationship to keep family or friends from their matchmaking antics. However, as time goes by, the “fake” feelings take a back seat to “real” feelings. That is the case in this engaging story that highlights Lynix Mathews and Dorian Priestly. Lynix is a Chicago policeman, and Dorian works at her parents’ B&B.
This is the third book of the Priestly family series. At the end of the second book, FINDING YOU, Zion, Dorian’s brother and Lynix’s best friend sees Dorian and Lynix together. It is a great segue to this story because Zion is not happy that his best friend, Lynix, with the playa-playa reputation, is with his sister.
Lynix and Dorian have one thing in common. They are tired of their parents setting them up with dates. In Dorian’s case, it’s her mother who is determined to see her with a nice young man. For Lynix, it is his father with a more manipulative motive in seeing his son with the “right” mate. You will get that when you read the story. So, to squash the matchmaking, Dorian agrees to a fake relationship with Lynix. Here’s the catch, they both like each other, a lot. I love their storylines. Their earlier dating experiences affect their present relationship. Just wait until you read about Lynix’s relationship that almost took him out. It’s a doozy! However, our couple eventually gets to their HFN.
I have enjoyed the Priestly family stories so far. At the end of this story, Cree, the outspoken, “boss-lady” sibling of the family encounters a man whom she obviously had history with. That brief encounter does not go well. More to come, I’m sure, and I look forward to reading Cree’s story.
I recommend DARING TO LOVE YOU for your reading pleasure. In fact, you still have time to familiarize yourself with the Priestly family world with BELIEVING IN YOU, FINDING YOU, and DARING TO LOVE YOU. You can thank me later.
