COCOA DREAMS - Carolyn Hector

REVIEWER: Brenda Larnell RATING: A
REVIEW: COCOA DREAMS is an appealing story that captures your attention beginning with the provocative Prologue. The heroine, Penelope ‘Poppy’ James and the hero, Mr. Gray Sweatpants, waste no time indulging in a meet me in the powder room sexy tryst when they connect in an upscale airport lounge that only admits patrons who own a certain card. You’ll get the Mr. Gray Sweatpants reference when you read the story. Although Poppy and her mystery man have a magnetic-like attraction to each other, they come from very different worlds. Unbeknownst to them, their worlds are about to collide.
Poppy James is the face of her family’s Camping World business. This includes her pitching The Glamp Life in a pink wig that wins her notoriety with those who are fans of camping and hunting. It also saves her family’s failing business. At the other end of the business spectrum, there is the eclectic Charmant family of the Forbes featured world’s richest chocolate empire, Charmant Cocoa. The primary storyline revolves around the wedding of Poppy’s cousin, Beau James to Mike Charmant. Kudos to Ms. Hall for flawlessly incorporating a Gay couple in the story. Poppy arrives early at the site of the wedding along with the Charmants who are footing the bill. She is assigned as a wedding planner, along with guess who. Yes, Mr. Gray Sweatpants, whose real name is Romaric Charmant, CEO of the family business. My favorite scene is when Poppy and Romaric meet again on his private island. The highlight of this compelling story lies with the backstory of the Charmant brothers. No spoilers. Ms. Hector displays great storyteller techniques as she reveals crucial information about the band of brothers. In the meantime, Poppy and Romaric’s love journey flourishes under a romantic idyllic setting.
All the minor characters contribute to the intrigue of the story and the development of the main characters from the Charmant brothers, Mikey, Keenan, Christian, Bren, and Zar to the parents and friends. There is one heinous minor character who emerges from the brothers’ past and makes a brief but significant appearance. Great scene! The HEA for Poppy and Romaric is a game changer!
I enjoyed COCOA DREAMS, and I recommend it for your reading pleasure. It’s a captivating story.
