REVIEW: CHOKE AND STROKE ACADEMY is the latest dark romance by USA Today bestselling author, Sherelle Green. Better known as CASA, the agreement and rules to enter the academy cannot be taken lightly. Ms. Green is not playing around with this one. Symphony Hawke is a broken person with a lack of trust, because of things she experienced as a child. She is a sex surrogate who lives a double life. She finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time or maybe it is the right time? Ultimately, she feels an unwelcome pull toward the infamous Professor X before she sees his face. His eyes are a unique copper color. This is coupled with his deep-caramel skin.

Professor X is the managing instructor for CASA. He’s responsible for helping people live a more fulfilled life in…physical and strategic ways. He has also made the choice to live in seclusion as CASA is responsible for doing some dirty work as well. Everyone who comes through the academy has some connection to the Dark Trinity. X is in the wrong place at the right time (in a way) the night that he encounters Symphony. He doesn’t typically leave the academy and he too, has a pull toward her.

Due to their respective lines of work, Symphony and X had a wealth of sexual experiences. Despite that, they shared a “beautiful first” together that neither of them expected. They fell quickly and had an emotional connection from the start. From him helping her wash her hair to her watching him mix his beard oil; they developed an intimate connection. X must be observant in his role. He’s like a psychologist who has mastered how someone feels and knows what Symphony wants. The problem is, he made a critical mistake that resulted in Symphony entering the academy initially. As the book progresses, we find out if Symphony and X will come out on the other side unscathed and with their hearts intact.

Ms. Green pushes the envelope once again. The Prologue lets readers know what is in store, but I still wasn’t ready! The intricate details of the vows of the academy are creatively written. While this is a standalone book, it’s more enjoyable to make connections with previous books written by Green. I was as interested in discovering Professor X’s identity as I was in the overall story. The book is complete; however, I had a few open questions.
CHOKE AND STROKE ACADEMY may not be for everyone, but I highly recommend it.
