REVIEW: Well fans, we’ve come to the end of the Donovan Dynasty Series, and the talented and prolific A.C. Arthur has done her thing by closing out this series with Cade Donovan’s story. What a story it is! Cade is THE man! Beginning with DANE, then ROARK, followed by RIDGE, TALAYA and SURI, we now get to read CADE, and explore his struggles, successes, and especially his secrets. Sharing the space in this story with him is Shawna Allen who also has struggles, successes and secrets that makes her the perfect match for Cade. They need each other to deal with their past demons in order to clear the way for a life together.
As you read the story, you will discover that Cade is more than what he discloses to the public. He operates in two worlds that often collide. By day, Cade is a protector of the Donovan family, and an elite FBI Profiler. On other days/nights he is a member of the Alliance. You will understand that reference when you read the story. You also have to know the history of the Donovans that the previous books in this series disclosed. Ending the deadly threat to the Donovan family is the nucleus of Cade’s existence. He will not have it, and he will not stop until the job is done. Cade protects those he loves, and Shawna falls into that category. Cade is relentless and deadly as he goes about his business. I love the scenes where he catches, interrogates, and annihilates those who come against him and his. No mercy! This man is a beast! On the other hand, he loves just as hard. The love scenes with him and Shawna are so intense and hot that you might need to have a fan and something cool to drink nearby.
Some of the side characters are members of the Donovan family that you have met before (if you are a follower and I hope you are). One of the most intriguing side characters is Dakota “Kodi” Donovan, Cade’s younger sister. Wait until you find out what she does for a living. The Epilogue also has its share of tension and surprises. Just know that there is a beautiful HEA for our hero and heroine. And…surprise, surprise the Donovan stories will not end here…. Stay tuned for The Donovan Renegade!
I loved this story! CADE is indeed a “sexy, twisty, suspense story” with well-developed characters, a compelling plot, and emotional depth that will draw you in from the beginning. I recommend it for your reading pleasure. You can thank me later!
