CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
REVIEW: You might be familiar with the leading characters in this story. Author Sean D. Young has revived this engaging love story to commemorate her twenty-year journey as an author. BLOOM is set in Taylor, Indiana, and it is where we encounter the leading female character, Rose Hart, part owner of Hearts and Flowers, a full-service bridal event planning business. While Rose handles all the floral arrangements, her sisters; Ivy serves as the business manager, Lili designs the cakes, and Violet creates the gowns for the bride and her party. When the story opens Hearts and Flowers is getting ready to step up their game when they are commissioned to plan the grand opening of a new event venue, Magic Moments.
The Damon brothers, Marc and Jonathan, are the owners of Magic Moments. When the brothers meet with Rose and Ivy, we discover that Rose and Marc are already acquainted with each other. I’ll allow you to discover the circumstances of how they first met. The second chance at love trope is perfect for this story, and the author does an excellent job of bringing our heroine and hero together again. I enjoyed how Rose and Marc’s paths crossed after years had passed. The weight of time and unfinished emotions pulled them toward a second chance neither expected.
The Hart sisters and Jonathan, Marc’s brother, lend support and advice (solicited and unsolicited) in their roles as minor characters. Aunt DD, the sisters’ confidant, and secret keeper stands out in her role. Another character who stands out at the opposite end as a side character is Phoebe St. John. She is a piece of work, as you will find out. Despite Phoebe’s manipulative attempts, Rose and Marc’s HEA comes on the melody of H.E.R.’s “My Song.” You’ll get that when you read the story. Speaking of H.E.R., you should check out the playlist that goes perfectly with this story.
BLOOM is an engaging story for all the romantics out there. I recommend it for your reading pleasure as you add it to your summer reading list.
