ROMANTIC SUSPENSE
REVIEW: Kimi Wheeler has a stalker. She has no idea who it is or what they want. After she’s mugged, assaulted, and shot at she runs to her dead brother’s best friend, Takoda Yazzie, for help. Then her house is broken into and ransacked. Takoda promised Jacy, Kimi’s brother, to take care of her if anything happens to him. When Jacy is killed in action, Takoda feels obligated to step in and protect her. The stalker is relentless in his pursuit of Kimi, so Takoda asked for the backing of the other members of Ironside Protective Services to keep Kimi safe. Later Kimi is angry and hurt when she finds out her father paid Takoda a retainer to protect her. In the midst of it all, Kimi pushes Takoda to admit he has feelings for her and has for a long time. But a long ago promise to her brother made him keep his distance until her life is in danger. Then Takoda realizes he wants Kimi in his future.
Kimi is a former rodeo rider who changed her life and became a nurse after her brother died. She enjoys her job and is happy with her simple existence and then someone threatens to take it away from her. Takoda is a former Air Force combat engineer turned private investigator with Ironside Protection Services. He is loyal to a fault. But he has to break his word with his dead friend in order to protect the living.
BIG SKY SHOWDOWN is a well-crafted, hang on to your seat, fast pace thrilling suspense story. Danger has come to Kimi and she can’t understand why. She’s kind hearted, keeps a low profile, and her life consist mostly of her work as a nurse. The author did an awesome job with this page turner with realistic and believable characters like Kimi and Takoda. The plot is gripping with twists and turns that take you on a wild ride to find the truth. The action is nonstop with one attack after another with no end in sight. Every page keeps you guessing what comes next until the very end. The closer Kimi and Takoda get to the truth the more dangerous things become.
BIG SKY SHOWDOWN is a fantastic read. Once I started reading, I finished it in one sitting. It’s one of those books that grabs hold of you and you can’t put it down. It’s full of surprises, especially the ending.
