REVIEW: I love celebrating birthdays whether they are mine, family, or friends. Leave it up to A.C. Arthur to give a whole new spin on celebrating a birthday in this story featuring Savannah ‘Vanna’ Carlson and Aden Granger. I loved this story that revolves around Vanna’s month-long celebration of her 40th birthday. It was a milestone that would begin the next phase of her life and worthy of every birthday activity that she carefully coordinated. She was going to be #FFSF! I will allow you to discover what that means when you read this thoroughly entertaining story.
Who starts their month-long birthday celebration by identifying their deceased husband’s body? You guessed it! Savannah’s husband, Caleb is dead, and now we have a who-dun-nit because it was not a natural death. The storyline takes a wild turn when our girl becomes a suspect. Suspect or not, the month long 40th birthday celebration is still on! Savannah, in spite of that major distraction, is a strong woman. She is determined that the greatest mistake of her life (marrying Caleb) will not stop her birthday festivities. To support her in this are some of the most memorable side characters ever.
First, there is Granny, Maybeline Jackson, Vanna’s gun-toting confidante, the woman who raised her, and her ride or die. I cannot leave out Granny’s sidekick, Frito, the wonder dog. Vanna’s besties, Jamaica and Ronni are always there to support Vanna and offer advice even when it is not wanted. Then there is Aden, Caleb’s Frat brother, who suddenly appears at the cemetery, the site of Caleb’s burial. Aden and Vanna have some history, but Aden is looking for a future with Vanna. You will get that when you read the story. One of the most diabolical characters ever is Caleb’s mother Gail. Wait until you meet her!
The whodunit part of the story is intriguing especially when Vanna is arrested at the cemetery for conspiracy to embezzle money. That is all I am going to say about that. You must read the story to find out how all of that came about.
I enjoyed this story so much! It is a great mix of women’s fiction, suspense, and romance. Reading A LIFETIME IN 30 DAYS was a wonderful way to begin the new year. I recommend it for your new year’s reading. You can thank me later!
