REVIEW: Torryn Emerson’s business goes under after her partner wipes out the business bank account and disappears. She returns to her hometown to restore the house left to her in her mother’s will. But Torryn is broke and the house needs a major makeover. The attorney handling her mother’s will just happens to be her next door neighbor, Matthew Lawson. Matthew is a widower raising his son after his wife’s death. He employs Torryn as a babysitter for Conner, and she takes on other jobs to raise money. Torryn adores Conner and Conner adores Torryn. Torryn and Conner spend so much time together that she falls in love with him and his dad. Matthew and Torryn have issues they have to overcome before they can move forward. And in the middle is an adorable little boy who needs love from both of them.
Torryn is a free spirit who never seem to settle down until she returns home and falls in love with the little boy next door. Torryn leans on her Christianity and faith to relieves self-doubts and fears she has carried around for years so she can move forward. Matthew is a single parent having trouble connecting with his young son, Connor. Conner misses his mother, and Matthew has trouble talking about his wife because of her betrayal. He has to decide what’s more important, his son who is still grieving for his mommy or his inability to move past his wife’s infidelity.
THE FAMILY NEXT DOOR is a heartwarming and faith filled story of two people who work to overcome their issues and find love together. This story is well-written with strong characters and a wonderful plot. Matthew and Torryn never expected to find friendship and love next door. Matthew never expected his son, Conner, to become attached to Torryn. Both Torryn and Matthew find out that things don’t always turn out the way you planned. As they spend time together they can’t help to fall for each other. Their dilemma is getting passed their fears and embrace the future that awaits them. With Gods help they are able to do that and become the family they both need and want.
THE FAMILY NEXT DOOR is a sweet story. It captured my interest from the beginning. It’s an uplifting story of three individuals in desperate need of strong faith and love to bring them the healing they so desperately need. Wonderful story.
