REVIEW: The Lassiter Wedding Series has come to a close with the wedding of Jade Lassiter and Blake Thornton, and what a wedding it is! Before I get to the wedding, in the first chapter, Jade has this intense dream about Sophia, Blake’s heartless mother, that was somewhat prophetic about events to come. Believe me, Sophia Thornton is the Wicked Witch of the West, and she is an evil force that has to be dealt with. But really, what would it look like if there was no drama when the Lassiters gathered. It’s an opportunity to see them close ranks and show out. However, the prolific, talented USA Today bestselling author, Iris Bolling, has a card up her sleeve as she introduces the next generation of Lassiters who are ready to stand up and stand out.

I loved this story! There’s nothing like a beautiful wedding, family and friends coming together, and drama, drama, drama. Now, I’ve read A CHRISTMAS AFFAIR twice, and I’ve taken notes, because Ms. Bolling has a tendency to insert little foreshadowing nuggets into her stories that will pop up later in another book. I am looking forward to reading up-coming stories that will feature the next generation of Lassiters, namely Samantha, who plays a huge role in this story, JC Harrison, the President of the United States’ oldest child, Elliott, James Jr, Calvin Jr, Jazzy, Jayden, and Brianna. They are going to be forces to reckon with. I will deliver one spoiler note: The wedding goes off without a hitch if you don’t count the pillow fight and water gun shenanigans. I’ll just leave that right here.

Look for P.I.E. to rear its ugly head in this story. If you’ve read previous Bolling books, then you recognize that reference, and know that it means nothing good. Two characters from that organization appear also. I’ll let you discover who they are. Trust me when I say, Sophia regrets their presence, but as the saying goes, “You reap what you sow”. Wait until you read what she had in store for her granddaughter, Samantha. Carolyn, Samantha’s mother and Sophia’s own daughter, almost took her out for the revolting act she tried to pull off. However, at the other end of the spectrum, is a tearful reunion between Sally, the Lassiter matriarch, and her sister. There’re more questions than answers about that scene. Stay tuned, fans.

This story is everything! The side characters and minor characters range from the Lassiter siblings and their wives and husbands to the Connecticut Lassiters (Joe’s relatives), to Erik”Silk” Davies and Taylor Brooks. The wedding was a grand affair and Ms. Bolling’s description was sublime. Jade and Blake’s HEA is solid as a rock!

A CHRISTMAS AFFAIR is a must read. Even if you are not caught up on everything that is Lassiter, this book can stand along as a story that you will enjoy. Kudos to the masterful storytelling expertise of Iris Bolling. I recommend this book for your reading pleasure. You can thank me later!
