ABOUT SEAN D. YOUNG
What made you become a writer? I’d been writing since I was a child and had written the Easter play when I was twelve. Upon the urging and mentorship of Jacquelin Thomas I pursued writing romance.
In which genre(s) do you write? Which genre do you prefer and why? (if more than one) I write romance and I prefer it because every story has a happy ending. Romance novels help take the reader way from the problems of life, even if only for a little while.
Describe a typical day for Sean, the writer? I get up in the morning and post on my social media, then I work on graphics, promo material etc before trying to sit down to work on my WIP.
What do you like to do when you want to relax? I love watching television when I relax. I’ll hit the reality shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race or Dr. Pimple Popper and even a movie on Netflix or Prime.
ABOUT THE BOOKS
Tell us a about IN NAME ONLY. IN NAME ONLY is the story of two people who used marriage as a business arrangement. But they didn’t expect that in playing the role of a married couple to perfection would cause them to fall in love.
How have you changed as a writer since that first book? I know that I’ve grown as a writer since my first book TOTAL BLISS was release in June of 2005. My confidence as a writer is growing and I’m grateful for each opportunity to present a new story to the world.
Which of your books (or series) would you recommend to readers not familiar with your work and why? Right now, I’d say The McClendon Holiday Series. That series consists of A MCCLENDON THANKSGIVING, THE CHRISTMAS PROMISE, A HUSBAND BY NEW YEAR’S and BE MY VALENTINE. This is a great representation of the things that I love to write about family, love, forgiveness and of course happily ever after.
What do you see as your greatest accomplishment as an author? My greatest accomplishment as author is to be able to sit down and write a complete story from beginning to end. To touch a person’s life and their perspective on love with my story.
How do you feel about the state of the romance industry; in particular, the treatment of authors of color? We deal with some of the same prejudices in the romance industry as we do in Corporate America and society as whole. I believe that the people who are on the front lines fighting for us as authors of color are doing a great job. We needed strong voices and they are sounding the alarm, demanding that we get fair and equal treatment. I say yay!!
What’s next for Sean? Next up is CAUGHT IN HIS WEBB which is Book #2 in the Love Connection Series. It will be released in January 2021.
