I started ROMANCE IN COLOR when I realized that there were very few website which focused on African-American
romance. I'm a published author,
writing for the Harlequin Kimani Arabesque line. My debut release, Capture
the Sunrise, was released as part of a 2-in-1 volume with which Arabesque
launched its first two male authors.
I'm a member of Romance Writers of America, and serve on the steering committee
of the PAN (Publish Authors Network) and am a member of the Online Chapter.
I've placed in and won a few writing contest, the most significant was winning the Heart and Soul Contest of
the Romance Slam Jam Conference in March 2002. When I'm not writing, you
can find me online at
www.eharlequin.com
where I'm the host for the Kimani Press community area. |

First and foremost I am an avid
reader!! Since the age of five, the library has been my best friend. While my
tastes in books have changed since then, my passion for the written word has
not. With that said, I love AA romance and fiction, and Christian fiction. I
am also a wife and mother of three, as well as an aspiring author.

I was born and raised on Galveston Island. I am an avid
reader which is a trait I inherited from my mother, who became deliriously happy
when she discovered my best-friends’ mother liked to read as well. So, whenever
she ran out of books she told me to call Gayla’s mom. I finally just gave her
the number. I am single with two four-legged children. I am a teacher and
currently teaching a Lifeskills & Autism class full of girls. Reading is my way
of relaxing, traveling, and escaping. My hobbies are reading, traveling, and
singing in my church choir. Maybe at some point in life I will actually sit down
and write a novel of my own. |

I am from Akron, OH
and I enjoy reading, writing and editing stories. I love reading contemporary,
historical and mystery romance. I also enjoy inspirational romance. I am a
member of several book clubs and I have been inspired by several authors to
fulfill my dream of working in the literary field. Presently I am attending
school working on my minor in creative writing and my bachelors in business and
organization. I am constantly looking for good books to read so I spend a lot
of time on the internet checking out websites. I recently started bidding on
hardcover books by Beverly Jenkins on eBay and I get a rush every time I win the
bid. I can truly say I am an avid AA romance reader. |

I have always looked at myself as someone who strives for
self satisfaction and improvement. I have always loved music and reading. I am a
Bachelor Degreed Registered Nurse who is ready to leave the hard work and start
the smart work. When I am not being a nurse or running around with my two
wonderful sons, I am helping to Enrich the Lives of Women, (Mary Kay Cosmetics)
and singing in my church choir. My greatest love is reading and I have passed
this on to my sons. When you read, you can travel everywhere in time and space
without the expense |

If I had to describe myself in word, it would be;
dissatisfied. I believe being dissatisfied keeps me striving to be a better
mother, writer, and person. To this extent, I have a Bachelors Degree in Legal
Studies, is licensed as a Real Estate Agent, and a member of the RWA. When I am
not working or parenting, I spend my time traveling and working on my
manuscripts. My favorite genre is contemporary romance but I often read other
genres. I have published literary papers through my College although I am not
formally published. I will be somewhat satisfied when I attain my goal of
becoming a published author. |

I am a
native Floridian and describe myself as an equal opportunity writer and reader,
meaning I love all genres. I read for the love of the story—the excitement,
drama, plot, characters, climax, intrigue, and so much more. My main character
flaw is that I am a romanticist. I started reading as a child to escape to
faraway places that I did not think I would ever have the opportunity to visit.
Fortunately, I have been blessed to live on several different continents and
visit many major cities throughout the world. I love to travel around the world,
viewing people, visiting places, and seeing things that make this big beautiful
world so diverse. My current careers are in education and as an entrepreneur in
real estate. One day I will put fingers to keyboard and write that novel that’s
been dancing around in my head and heart for years. |

I am a native of
Paterson, NJ who has had the opportunity to live in a variety of places like
Trinidad and Tobago, Honolulu, HI and many more, due to serving my country in
the Marine Corps. I’ve not always been an avid reader; however, once bitten by
the reading love bug, my passion and love for reading African American and
Christian Fiction books became an addiction. I am an aspiring author always
looking for ways to make a difference and be all that God has destined me to be.
I am married and the mother of two young adults who takes prides in seeing all
opportunities as a chance to be a better me! |

During the course of one’s life people often change their minds several times
about what they want to do in life. I have not. I’ve always known what I wanted to do. Perform. Born in Canada, but raised in Barbados and
traveling between the 2 countries during my formative years, I didn’t have much opportunity to do so, outside of family “living-room” programs. It
wasn’t until going to school at Wilfrid Laurier University, where I received a Degree in Communication Studies, that more formal opportunities
presented themselves. While there I was able to write movie reviews for the campus newspaper. Moving on from Laurier and attending Sheridan College
where I took Media Arts, I was able to focus on and develop my passion. There, writing scripts and short films, a few of which I actually had the
chance to develop, proved to be greatly fulfilling. Throughout all these transitions, like my dedication to performance, was a constant love of
romance. Whether inspired by Disney or from watching movies like Mahogany with my mother, to me there is nothing quite so satisfying as
watching a great romantic movie or reading a wonderful romance novel. It’s for all those reasons and many others that the prospect of formally
reviewing romance novels sounds like a venture too good to be true, but one I’m more than happy to undertake and hope to enjoy for a long time. |
