REVIEW: For all of the followers and readers of the works of prolific Brenda Jackson, it is a sweet and bitter moment indeed as the last brother of the “Bad News Steeles” with the green eyes finds his mate in CLAIMED BY A STEELE. Gannon Steele, the baby brother of Galen, Tyson, Eli, Jonas, and Mercury is looking forward to all the women available to him now that his five brothers are happily married and no longer on the dating circuit. That idealistic moment quickly passes when Gannon meets the lovely, Delphine Ryland.

Delphine is assigned to interview Gannon for Simply Irresistible, a popular magazine, for their special issue that recognizes a man of notable status who positively impacts society. No doubt that Gannon is that man! When you read the story, you will discover all of his accomplishments as the CEO of Steele Trucking Company that was started by his father, Drew Steele. No doubt that Delphine has done her research, but all that research doesn’t begin to describe who Gannon really is. I like how the story develops as Delphine and Gannon finally meet in person. The heat between them is intense. Gannon is really feeling Delphine, but she holds back because of a previous relationship. It’s predictable, and there are no surprises there. One of the best features of the story, however, is the over-the-road truck trip that takes Gannon and Delphine through several states from Phoenix to Florida. The trip also fulfills Delphine’s dream of seeing the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll get that when you read the story.

A stand-out feature of
CLAIMED BY A STEELE is the connections to other characters and books that the author has written. Gannon’s cousins, the Steeles of Charlotte, North Carolina, are mentioned. They all have their own stories in the FORGED OF STEELE series. We are also reminded of the Steele-Westmoreland connection through the marriage of our hero’s cousin, Cheyanne Steele-Westmoreland to Quade Westmoreland (QUADE’S BABIES). Without saying, the HEA is priceless!

While I enjoyed Gannon and Delphine’s story, the storyline was predictable from the sexy swagger of the determined successful hero to the issues of the reluctant beautiful heroine. Nevertheless,
CLAIMED BY A STEELE brings entertaining closure to the Steele brothers’ series. I recommend it for your reading pleasure.
