REVIEW: Lexington “Lex” Ryde and Senaé Dawson are an unforgettable seasoned couple who epitomize the lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers theme. More about them later. Welcome back to Southlake Park, and the next bachelor up for auction is Lexington Ryde, the first foster child nurtured by foster parents, Mama Peaches and Papa Brighton. Regardless of how Lex feels about returning to Southlake Park, he can never turn down a request for help from Mama Peaches. The funds from the bachelor auction will help to revitalize the community that has fallen on hard times. So, just how did Lex, the owner of a successful private transportation service who caters to Black Hollywood’s A-list, and Senaé, licensed aesthetician, make-up artist and popular blogger, happen to hook-up again? It all started with Senaé being kidnapped.

Senaé‘s B.F.F.’s, Lovie, Dove, and Ima, are the ones responsible for blindfolding and hijacking their girl to the auction for her “special” 40th birthday gift, a man, who, in the words of Dove, can supply Senaé with “endless make-you-pee-yourself orgasms”. These ladies are a hoot! They are without a doubt three of the most outlandish and outspoken women you want to meet. Their no-holds-barred quips will have you laughing out loud. Kudos to Author Suzette Harrison for the witty and hilarious dialogue that adds just the right amount of spice to this saucy story. Senaé has no clue as to whom her girls select and win in the auction until she takes the blindfold off. Wouldn’t you know it’s her ex-husband, Lexington Ryde. I’ll let you discover how they know that Lex, the 21st bachelor up for auction, is the perfect man for Senaé. What follows is a poignant, humorous, steamy, sexy story that will delight your romantic sensibilities. You will love Senaé (aka BoBo) and Lex’s journey as they rediscover each other after 20 years and go from regret and broken dreams to forgiveness and the promise of a future together.

Among the list of unforgettable characters is one Stanford Browning, who subsists at the bottom of the food chain. He and Senaé had a relationship that lasted all of five months, but like most bad weeds, he keeps popping back up. The scene where Stanford is finally handled is priceless.

THE BIRTHDAY BID is an entertaining and enjoyable addition to the Distinguished Gentlemen Series. Suzette D. Harrison did a commendable job in penning a story framed with humor, drama and passion. I highly recommend it for your reading pleasure.
