REVIEW: SEDUCED BY SECOND CHANCES is the third book of a series, but I read it as a stand-alone. While I am not sure if the main characters of this book appear in Books 1 and 2 (penned by two different authors) one thing for sure, talented author Reese Ryan had her hands full as she featured two couples, one African American and the other Caucasian to headline this story. In the first chapter, we meet Jessie Humphrey, an accomplished singer, composer and pianist who is still carrying a torch for fifteen years for self-made real estate millionaire Gideon Johns. Then, in Chapter Two, we meet Teresa St. Claire, the owner of Limitless Events, an event planning company to Seattle, Washington’s A-Listers, and her love interest, Liam Christopher, the head of Christopher Corporation. These two couples share the spotlight as the double storyline is revealed. It was a little confusing at first, because I was not familiar with the previous books of the series. However, it became clear as I read that the couple introduced to the series is Jessie and Gideon.

Jessie and Gideon have a fifteen year old history. Their storyline is punctuated with family drama, and unrequited love. Teresa and Liam’s storyline also has its share of family drama punctuated by a dose of suspense. Jessie, Gideon, Teresa and Liam come together at a corporate retreat sponsored by Richmond Industries CEO, Matt Richmond (Book 1 of
The Dynasties Series) where the setting shifts to Napa Valley as the “A-Listers” gather to be wine, dined and entertained. I won’t delve into the details of the couples’ dilemmas. I’ll let you discover the featured couples’ issues that keeps them apart, and their love journey, that ultimately brings them together. Kudos to Reese Ryan for a well-crafted story that engages the reader with injections of passion, mistrust, scandal, and mystery.

There are two characters, Joshua St. Claire, Teresa’s brother, and Catherine Christopher, Liam’s mother, who have minor roles, but are key to unraveling the mystery aspect of the story. Catherine is a piece of work. You’ll get that when you read the story.

The book ends with a cliff hanger for one couple and a sweet HEA for the other couple. Sorry, no spoilers. I will say that the cliff hanger is so good, I want to read the next book of the series. Good job, Reese Ryan! I recommend
SEDUCED BY SECOND CHANCES for your reading pleasure.
