REVIEW: When Gideon Knight meets Shay Neal, he has one goal in mind to exact revenge for his sister. Shay’s brother took advantage of Gideon’s sister, and he intends to make him pay. He intends to use Shay to make that happen and destroy her brother at the same time. Gideon has incriminating evidence that could send Shay’s brother to prison unless she pretends to be in love with him.  Shay doesn’t like being a pawn in the war going on between Gideon and her brother, but she can’t be responsible for him spending years in prison. So, she agrees to Gideon’s scheme for a limited time. Gideon has a brilliant mind, and he thought he had planned for every contingency, but falling in love with his blackmail victim wasn’t part of the plan.

Shay is a member of one of the most influential families in Chicago. She has a kind heart, and she loves the family business, but she has a burning desire to have something of her own, preferably a business to help others achieve their goals. Gideon is a man who comes from meager beginnings but emerges as one of the wealthy movers and shakers in Chicago. Though at the moment, his brilliant mind is consumed with seeking revenge on the man who took advantage of his innocent sister. As the protector of his family, he can’t just let that go.

BLACK TIE BILLIONAIRE is an excellent read. The author has written another page-turner for hours of enjoyable reading. This author has a flair for writing the most riveting love stories. In this one, there is a lot of drama but also blackmail, hatred, passion, forgiveness, and enough love to last a lifetime. The pacing and the content are such that you do not want to put the book down. Ms. Simone can put the most unlikely characters together and make it work. Shay and Gideon are very different, but their fierce attraction is what holds them together despite their reason for being together. Their characters are multifaceted, especially Gideon. And even though his motives for hooking up with Shay are despicable, you can’t help but love him. The secondary characters are just as deceitful, and they fit right into the storyline. Although Shay and Gideon started out as enemies, they come out on the other end perfect for one another due to the healing power of love.

is the second entry in The Blackout Billionaires series and proves to be just as good as the first, THE BILLIONAIRE’S BARGAIN.  Apparently, what happens in the dark doesn’t stay there. A lot takes place during this blackout, and I can’t wait to read the next love story.
