REVIEW: BLACK KNOWLEDGE marks the end of prolific author, D Camille’s Contemporary Romance Summer Series. The Excellence Series. Grayling, Michigan, the fictional town of excellence, is the setting for all three stories of this series. The next couple to “catch the wave” are two highly knowledgeable researchers, Vincent Burton and Kory Whitmore. If you are not familiar with the “wave” phenomenon that is exclusive to Grayling, then you are in for a treat. Neither Vincent nor Kory are natives of Grayling. They arrived in Grayling as members of a team of researchers to study the history of Grayling, and its impact on the growth and expansion as a predominantly black town. In this continuing story, Vincent has accepted the position of the new City Planner for Grayling.

While Vincent is set to take up permanent residency in Grayling, Kory is also making plans to stay in Grayling and become owner of the town’s library that was previously owned by the “coonfused” Mr. Johnson (
BLACK LIFE). Their love journey and their love of knowledge is intertwined with the new phase that the residents are Grayling are embarking. With Vincent’s knowledge from his research of Black towns, as the City Planner, he looks forward to guiding Grayling to a new level of excellency with Kory by his side. The residents of Grayling are supportive and ready to see Grayling expand and flourish.  Speaking of expanding, the population of Grayling is also increasing with a rash of new births. I’ll let you discover Graylings’ future citizens. In addition, you can count on D Camille imparting some knowledge in her books. In this one, we learn the historical significance of Mound Bayou, Mississippi. It’s quite enlightening. There is still a threat from outsiders to take over Grayling, but no spoilers here. You’ll have to read the story to find out what happens.

The Grayling residents abound in this story. Two of the most irascible and oldest denizens of the town, Roscoe and Willie form an unholy alliance to come against a common enemy. There’s also a new sheriff in town and a new Mayor. You’ll get that when you read the story. Great characterization! The HEA is delightful! Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love just might become a Grayling theme song! I’ll leave that right there.

If you are looking for a captivating, engaging and entertaining reads, I highly recommend D. Camille’s Excellence Series,
BLACK LOVE, BLACK LIFE, and BLACK KNOWLEDGE. If you want to get to know the town of Grayling, begin with The Sable Inn Series, then The Book Club Series, all great reads. You can thank me later.
