REVIEW: Confession: I love a first-rate series. Therefore, I love D Camille’s THE BLACK DIAMOND, THE UNCUT, and now THE HEIRS. BOOK 1, TRANSITIONS of The Heirs Series, reveals the Diamond family ushering in a new dynasty of protectors and handlers. This new generation is more advanced, more treacherous, and more provocative than their elders. The heirs are the children of the Diamonds and the Uncut Diamonds who are now entering adulthood, and ready to claim their birthright. Look out world, here they come!

The featured couple in
TRANSITIONS is Tara Marshall and Stephen Worthy. Tara is the adopted daughter of Trent and Callie from HER GUARDIAN (Uncut Diamonds) and Stephen is employed by Keith Watson, Tara’s biological father. In order to FULLY understand Tara’s present relationship with her father, I suggest that you read her back story in HER GUARDIAN. Brooklyn native Stephen proves to be a worthy mate (no pun intended) for Tara as he endures and passes some rather unscrupulous encounters with members of Tara’s family who shall remain nameless. You know those Diamonds do not play. They may be content with passing the torch to their children, but they still handle their business. Just ask Keith Watson, and I’ll leave that right here. Although Tara and Stephen provide the romantic angle of the story, another character stands out as the second female lead. She’s none other than Diamond Black, the first-born of all the heirs, and the one who is initiating the transition. I love Diamond’s role in this story because she is a force to be reckoned with. If you have been following the series previously mentioned, then no explanation is necessary. If this is all new to you, I suggest you get busy and begin with the the first book, BLACK MAGIC.

There are a few valuable take-aways that I gathered from this book.
TRANSITIONS is a story about family, purpose, love, protection and support, and family is more than a connection by blood. The African Proverb in the first paragraph of the Prologue reinforces this: “A family is like a forest, when you are outside it is dense, when you are inside you see that each tree has its place.” TRANSITIONS marks the beginning of the heirs to the Diamond legacy establishing their place in the universe.

I highly recommend this book. However, I strongly suggest that you become thoroughly acquainted with the cast of characters by reading all the books in the
Black Diamond series, and the Uncut series. The series’ strength lies in the connection between the characters, which creates a community that invites the reader in. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to read Book 2, because the transition moves to another unexpected level. As I said, I love a good series, and you can’t go wrong with this one. Enjoy!
