REVIEW: Paula Starker and Linus Brooks are estranged lovers whose paths cross at their friends’ wedding. They haven’t been together in years, but they never forgot each other or the love that still exists between them. Linus wants Paula back, but for that to happen, he has to reveal the secret behind their painful breakup. Linus is afraid to do that fearing he will appear weak in Paula’s eyes. Paula will always love Linus but refuses to go through that kind of pain again. It nearly destroyed her the first time. A second time she may not survive. Linus is a proud man.  But he refuses to let Paula slip through his fingers a second time.  Even if it means revealing a side of himself he never wanted her to know.

District Attorney Paula Starker’s job has never been easy especially being the first black female DA in the city of Philadelphia. And having to prosecute people she works closely with has taken its toll. But being been raised in a poor neighborhood, Paula is stuff as nails and can handle the job. Continuing to do so is a question she’s pondering at this stage in her career. Linus is a rich and powerful businessman. He is also an integral part of Joss Construction, a company whose reputation and integrity has afforded them the luxury of never having to put in bids for jobs. It is well-known in Philadelphia that to be considered to do business with Joss you have to get past the intimidating persona of Linus Brooks.

SEDUCTIVE MEMORY is a fast-paced read from the beginning to end. It’s well-written with multi-faceted characters which is the norm for Ms. Washington. I wouldn’t expect anything less. This particular book is surrounding a deep dark secret that ended the relationship between the two main characters, Paula and Linus. Paula and Linus have been apart for years, yet their love for each other still exist. Even though they have dated others during their time apart, they have unfinished business which clouds any other relationships they may form. The author does a great job of building the suspense to keep the readers turning each page to discover the reason for the painful breakup between these ex-lovers.  Although I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, I was disappointed with the ending. In my opinion, it didn’t match the mystery hinted at throughout the book. Aside from that, this is a great story.

I started reading
SEDUCTIVE MEMORY and could not put it down.  It was an enjoyable read, and I would encourage others to pick up a copy and add it to your library.
