REVIEW: It’s finally here! The long-awaited story of the last bachelor in Brenda Jackson’s Bachelors In Demand series that began in 2009. They are six young men, god brothers, who pledged the bachelor life and formed The Guarded Hearts Club. BACHELOR UNBOUND is Zion Blackstone’s story and how he found love and lost his treasured bachelor’s status. Enter Celine Michaels, the woman who captures the heart of the last man standing. The primary setting for this story is Rome, Italy, and it is where Zion resides. The famous jewelry designer has been commissioned by Celine’s father to design something special for Celine’s birthday.

At first glance, it appears that Zion and Celine are complete opposites. Zion lives a relatively secluded life in Rome while Celine is pictured as a jet-setting socialite.  The reason Zion chooses to separate himself from his five god brothers by living in Rome has everything to do with his family. I’m going to leave that right there, and let you discover why he is so determined to keep his distance.  As you read, you will also realize that there is more to Celine than meets the eye. Her life is totally different than the one that is played out in the tabloids. Her jet-setting image is a ruse that hides what she is really about. Yes, both Zion and Celine harbor secrets. After meeting Celine in Los Angeles, Zion is determined to stay in control, despite the chemistry they generate. He resolves to stick to his “rules” that he lives by.  However, while she is visiting Rome, Celine becomes the victim of a twisted kidnapping plot initiated by her father and her supposedly fiancé. The storyline takes a suspenseful turn that leads Celine straight to Zion for protection. The attraction is still there, and Zion slowly, but surely, finds himself becoming unbound from the rules he created for himself.

Of course, Zion’s godbrothers stand out as side characters. Each of them has their own book:  Uriel Lassiter (Ellie),
BACHELOR UNTAMED, Xavier Kane (Farrah), BACHELOR UNLEASHED, York Ellis (Darcy), BACHELOR UNDONE, Winston Coltrane (Ainsley), BACHELOR UNCLAIMED, and Virgil Bougard (Kara), BACHELOR UNFORGIVING. Each book can be read as a standalone. Speaking of standout characters, Celine’s father, Levy Michaels and her ‘fiancé’, Nikon Anastas, certainly deserve honorable mention. You’ll see why when you read the story.

I always enjoy the stories of talented writer, Brenda Jackson. Her contribution as a prolific storyteller of AA Romance is outstanding.
BACHELOR UNBOUND does not disappoint, and I recommend this story for your reading pleasure.
