REVIEW: It’s a family affair and what a family it is! Hopefully, you have been following this accomplished, extensive African-American family of contemporary romance, intrigue and suspense. Prolific author, Iris Bolling has set the bar high for this eclectic group who can boast of having as a member of their extended family one who holds the highest office in the land, the President of the United States. This special edition of the Brooks’ family centers around the upcoming nuptials of Vernon Eugene Brooks and his beautiful woman often known by just one name, Naverone. The story opens on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving and just three days from their wedding.

In the four days that the Brooks’ family and friends gather to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and to witness the wedding of Vernon and Naverone, you will not believe the twists, turns, and mayhem, oh my, that dot the storyline sending the reading on an unforgettable ride. Beginning with the arrival of Rene Naverone’s family and Vernon meeting her ‘take no prisoners’ brothers, you just know that the drama (and that’s putting it mildly) that precedes the ceremony will have your full attention. Let’s see, there’s NBA superstar, Jason Whitfield who certainly comes with his own drama, and in hot pursuit of talented singer and budding lawyer, Taylor Brooks. Princess Zsa Zsa Ashro is also on the scene with James Brooks, Jr. not far behind her, but James Sr. is not pleased at all. Genesis, Naverone’s cohort, is on the case, literally. Last but not least, there is a brawl, the wedding and an arrest. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions, but a must-read story indeed.

I dare not attempt to mention all of the characters who carry the dynamic storyline to unforgettable heights. In the end, it’s all about family: love, support, teasing, testing, and kick-ass loyalty.

I loved this story. The HEA is the perfect ending, and will have you fanning and smiling. If you have not grabbed a copy of
A BROOKS’ THANKSGIVING, you are missing out on a great read. Let me assure you, even if you are not caught up on all the Brooks’ family books, this book can be read as a stand-alone. Enjoy!
