SYNOPSIS: The Silk Sisters -- longtime friends Janelle, Sandra and Vicki -- have turned their business savvy into a top-tier event agency. Premier event planner Janelle Howerton swore off dating after college. Now her father wants her to make nice with an influential donor to his congressional campaign. After all, it's just one date…..

REVIEW: Event planner Janelle Howerton hasn’t dated in several years.  When her father asks her to cozy up to handsome Ballard Dubois for political reasons, she is reluctant.  When she meets the tall, dark and sexy bachelor; she pegs him as a conceited, self-important businessman who is used to getting what he wants. A dinner date that starts as a favor for her dad turns into a hot affair for Janelle and Ballard. Soon, the press is referring to them as the ‘hottest new couple’ and their picture is appearing in the paper on a regular basis.  These two are running hot and heavy and before long Ballard thinks they should move to the next logical step; marriage. Janelle accepts, but then both begin to have doubts about their union. Will they make it to the altar?  Or will they decide that marriage is not in the cards for them.

Janelle is one-third of The Silk Sisters, a one-stop shop for over the edge, sophisticated and creative events. Her dream business allows her to do what she does best; manage and plan. Her resume of successful events span the globe.  She coordinates lavish weddings, corporate events and stellar after parties for major occasions. On the personal side, Janelle hasn’t been on a date in years.  After a painful breakup Janelle decides that she doesn’t have time for romance anyway. Her life is exactly the way she wants it.  Her business is a success and she is happy and healthy. What more could she possibly want?

Ballard Dubois is a successful billionaire who runs Dubois Maritime Shipping along with his father. He is a shrewd businessman who is very methodical in conducting business and it carries over into his personal life. Ballard is a man who believes in being up-front and letting people know where they stand. In his romantic relationships, he sets the tone and lays out the rules; his way or no way. His strict rules and limitations always work for him. If a woman is interested, she can either accept them or not. With his devastating good looks and sex appeal, Ballard does not have to look far to find a willing female.

This book was good from start to finish. The setting is in Massachusetts with a good plot and the pacing moved smoothly from page to page. The main characters are well-developed and the author’s depiction of them is so clear, that if you close your eyes you can actually picture them in your mind. Ballard is tall, dark and complicated with a set of rigid rules when it comes to marriage and relationships. He had to learn that when it comes to love there are no rules. In Ballard’s arms Janelle experiences a passion she has never known before, and realizes there is more to life than planning the next big event. The other characters are interesting as well and include relatives on both side who add to the believability of the storyline.

EVE OF PASSION had me hooked from the beginning and I could not put it down. I love a story with strong, passionate characters. This was a great start to The Wintersage Wedding series. Looking forward to reading Vicki and Sandra’s stories.
