REVIEW:
Adrianne Byrd introduces some way out
characters in this novel.
Isabella Kane is the daughter of a prominent senator who tries to run
her life like he does his political career; with influence, power, and
money. Derrick Knight is the handsome, debonair playa who walks away
from women like the weather changes. He
is not prepared for his payback. In TWO GROOMS AND A WEDDING, the characters in this novel are as different as night and day. Often you hear the phrases “opposites attract” and “don’t judge a book by its cover”; well this novel has proven these statements to be true. Isabella is a "plain jane" and not considered drop dead gorgeous. She’s intelligent, has a good career as an attorney, and friends who look out for her. But Isabella is preparing for a loveless marriage, setup by both her parents and the groom. She’s marrying Randall, a prominent politician whose future could land him in the white house. Randall is indeed a playa. Marriage is part of his status quo, his wandering eye is just who he is. Derrick is afraid of commitment, yes ladies the “C” word again. This brother drops women like there is no tomorrow. Evidently he hasn’t heard
of the golden rule “What goes around comes around”, but Derrick meets his match
in Isabella. Isabella is
inexperienced, but dang she makes up for lost time.
Derrick brings out the passion that Isabella has kept hidden inside her.
The love scenes are explosive and hot.
Can you imagine seeing stars after making love? The plot is energizing, but
at times a little unbelievable.
There are a few incidents there are a little too coincidental.
However, the twists are entertaining and had me thinking one thing, and
at the end found I was wrong. I
commend Ms. Byrd for that.
The secondary characters
are off the hook. Isabella’s
sorority sisters: Rayne, Sylvia and Keri were the icing on the cake.
Keri’s character really had me fooled. Between the twists and secondary
characters the pace got better. I
would say this was an enjoyable read. reviewer@romanceincolor.com | 15th May 2008
