~ Review: Show And Tell ~ |
SYNOPSIS: In LIVE AND LEARN, national bestselling author Bryant introduced unforgettable friends Alize, Dom, Moet, and Cristal. Now the ladies are back--with even more drama in tow. MAINSTREAM FICTION |4| Dianthia Lemons REVIEW: SHOW AND TELL gives us insight on the strength of friendship as experienced by Monica Winters, aka Alize, Latoya James, aka Moet, Keesha Lands, aka Dom, and Danielle Johnson, aka Cristal. Monica, is a grad student working on her MBA and interning at a prestigious company. She's smart, and good at what she does on the job but her love life is a mess. She is in love with a great guy named Cameron but turns his marriage proposal down. What she realizes, when she finds out that he is planning to marry another, is she really does want that man. Latoya James comes from a very religious and strict family. She has to be two people, her sweet mannered self with family and her street hip self with her friends. Because of the tight rearing she had, she had sex with the church pastor at sixteen and has a beautiful daughter from a relationship with a thug. Her baby's daddy is mad with her because of a false accusation and asking for sole custody of their daughter. She digs into her religion but has no choice but to pull out the stops to keep her child. Keesha, was a stripper, addicted to drugs and nursing a very low self-esteem issue through repeated verbal abuse from her mother. She kicks her habit but has to fight not only to stay sober but to make ends meet on minimum wage. Danielle Johnson is the lady who wants to be Mrs. CEO's spouse with all of the benefits and the title. One curve she was thrown was finding true love with the Handyman. All of the ladies have things in their lives to overcome and they do through the love and support they have always had for one another no matter what has occurred. Though the women are not only going through events in their lives, they still had the support of each other to make it through. The characters are dealing with addictions, finances, custody issues and past relationship baggage and two are in therapy. With SHOW AND TELL, Niobia Bryant does a great job weaving four strong characters and their trials into one enjoyable story. reviewer@romanceincolor.com | 9th June 2008
