PERILOUS PASSION - Katherine D. Jones

Parker Publishing/Noire Passion

1-60043-051-1

February 2008

SYNOPSIS:  Former policewoman, Karen Bryant, creates a new life for herself after a career-ending injury. Instead of finding a way to help criminally-troubled families in her Cleveland neighborhood, she finds a way to prevent criminal activity with a program aimed at the youth. Unfortunately, her one obstacle appeared to be a very sexy, Officer Caro Spencer.

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |4|  Keren Childers

REVIEW:  In PERILOUS PASSIONS, Ms. Jones introduces two controversial characters that dominant their positions in law.  Karen Bryant is energetic, persistent, and will stop at nothing to get the job done.  Caro Spencer is the same way.  Karen is very passionate, but leery of that love bug.  She’s been there, done that, and evidently didn’t like the outcome.  Caro is afraid of the C word, yes ladies “Commitment”.  He skirts all around this topic and shows it in his relationship with Karen.  Karen is a strong woman who just doesn’t have time to put up with a man who doesn’t know what he wants in a relationship.

The plot connects well in this story, there are two twists that eventually meet in the end and brings the leads together.  The love scenes are sizzling, steamy hot.  There’s some erotica in it and believe me, there are scenes that you have no choice but to go back and reread.  I can only say that they are off the hook, and man there are some horny folks in this book.  But you know, I am not mad at them at all.

Mixing suspense and romance helped the storyline tremendously.  I found it hard to stop reading parts of the book. The pace is consistent and flows well. The only frustration that I encountered in the story was Caro’s back and forth hesitancy of making a commitment with Karen.  Karen was a patient woman to put up with it, some women would have told him to take a hike.  Arnold Dyer, Karen’s half-brother, kept the story moving and became the referee, of sorts.

I must commend Ms. Jones on a job well done.  I am just saddened that we lost Ms. Jones last May of 2007. Rest in peace Katherine.   You would have been proud of this story.
