PLOT SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:

ONE SPECIAL MOMENT is not only a reissue, but it also happens to be one of my favorite Brenda Jackson books.  It was the first book I read by this author and the book that plunged me into the nucleus of the love and romance that surrounds the Madaris family and their friends.  It was a journey that I willingly embarked upon and one that I will revisit over and over again.

Colby Wingate loves her brother James and he took the responsibility of raising her after their parents died.  That fact that she would do anything for himbrings her to Beverly Hills for an appointment with the famous actor, Sterling Hamilton.  She has submitted a proposal for Sterling to endorse her brother’s company’s new male fragrance, “Awesome”.  What Colby doesn’t know is that her name has gotten mixed up with those of other applicants who applied to have Sterling’s baby for a cool one million dollars.

Sterling Hamilton is handsome, successful and confident, but his past still haunts him.  Being deserted by his mother at a very young age has left Sterling bitter towards motherhood.  With the recent death of his beloved father, Sterling wants a child that he can love unconditionally.  What Sterling doesn’t want is a wife or mother for his child.

When he sees Colby, he decides that she is the one who should bear his child.  Colby refuses to cooperate until Sterling plays his trump card.  James’ company is in trouble.  Knowing how much her brother has given to her, Colby concedes and agrees to the arrangement knowing she will never give up her baby.  Now, she has to pretend to be in love with a movie star—but she doesn’t have to pretend.  She declares that once they are married, she will find a way to convince Sterling to stay married to her.

From their first meeting, readers can feel the sparks between Colby and Sterling.  That is what makes for a great romance--when the readers know before the hero and heroine what they have yet to discover.  It takes talent to make the audience believe in the romance before it ever evolves.  Jackson is an expert in this area.  Her characters are so real; they pull readers into their worlds, their thoughts and feelings.

ONE SPECIAL MOMENT is truly a wonderful book.  The family bond between Colby and James allows her to teach Sterling of how important it is for a child to know its mother.  This also causes Sterling to rethink his position with his own mother-- who comes to visit him.

If love, romance and an exceptional story are what you have been yearning for, then check out ONE SPECIAL MOMENT-- along with all of Jackson’s backlist.  She’s truly one of the best romance authors that this reviewer has read.  I own and cherish every one of her books!
