REVIEW: Billie “Wilhemina” Phillips is a former supermodel who has decided to retire from the runway in order to pursue her true passion: renovating old homes in her native Chicago. Jason Wainwright is the handsome multimillion dollar real estate tycoon who is looking for his newest “trophy” girlfriend.
Billie enlists the help of her brother-in-law Nick, who owns the construction company that she’s currently working for, in order to meet Jason so that she can pick his brains about the real estate business. Jason is more enamored with Wilhemina, and manages to insult Billie when he speaks disparagingly about those who flip houses for a living. Jason realizes his mistake and decides to do whatever it takes to make up for his lapse in judgment; and to make Billie his. Billie is strong, independent and willing to work hard to accomplish her goals. She also refuses to fall for Jason’s good looks and slick tongue. Jason having misjudged Billie realizes that she is what has been missing from his life, because she could care less about his money and she doesn’t go out of her way to please him.
Ms. Schuster does a great job walking you through the ups and downs of the characters’ relationships. Billie and Jason are great together, but I loved her feistiness and the fact that she gave Jason hell. I appreciated that fact that Ms. Schuster didn’t allow Billie to compromise herself in order to please Jason, and the fact that he was able to respect her for it. Jason was then able to fall in love with Billie, instead of lusting after Wilhelmina. Once Billie realized that he truly recognized and cared for her, she was able to let down her guard and trust him.
I also admired the fact that Nick and Dakota took Billie seriously from the beginning and supported her desire to leave the catwalk behind. They cautioned her about her relationship with Jason, but were there to support her decision no matter what. I loved that Billie was able to walk away from fame and fortune to live out a childhood dream and was willing to work her way up from the bottom to fulfill her dream
MODEL PERFECT PASSION is a quick, easy and fun read. I enjoyed it and will recommend it to friends.
