SYNOPSIS: Basketball star Houston Carrington values his freedom, but his one-night affair with Kelly Charleston temps him to break his no-strings rule. Now the equally love-wary sports doctor has signed with Houston's team. SERIES ROMANCE |4+| Ashley Haney REVIEW: In this next segment of the Carrington series, we are introduced into the life of Houston Carrington. Houston is the baby of the Carrington triplets. He is a NBA player who has vowed not to settle down until he retires. Kelly Charleston is a sports medicine physician who has just been contracted to work with the Texas Cyclones, Houston’s team. Kelly is safeguarding her heart even though she fell in love with Houston from the start. Can Houston and Kelly overcome all of their issues and fight for true love, or will they find out that all they have is sexual chemistry? Houston believes in happily ever after, he just doesn’t want any part of it for a long time. Because of this, he is always up front with the women he deals with. That was until he met Kelly. Once Houston realizes that Kelly isn’t like the women he usually dates, he is willing to do anything including changing his view of relationships to keep her in his life. Kelly grew up with all the privileges money can buy except for the one thing she really wanted, her parent’s time and attention. Kelly had made it her goal in life to not let anyone else’s opinion of what she should do control her life. She soon realizes that if her relationship with Houston stands a chance of evolving into something more she must confront her parents and heal their relationship. The majority of the story takes place in Houston, Texas. The family goes on a cruise to Cozumel which gives Houston and Kelly’s relationship the chance to grow. The supporting characters are essential to the story. They provide advice and challenges to Houston and Kelly that helps their relationship evolve. The story moves at an excellent pace. There are constant conversations that keep the story very interesting and the reader engaged.
I thoroughly enjoyed Kissed by a Carrington. The reader is able to catch up with Austin, Ashley, Dallas and Lanier. I hope that Linda Hudson-Smith plans to write one more story in this series so that we can find out how Dallas and Lanier’s relationship will turn out. reviewer@romanceincolor.com | 6th March 2010
