CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

REVIEW: Lacey Baker’s stories are the best! PETALS AND PLAYLISTS showcases one of my favorite tropes, the second chance romance. Meet Emory Bellson and Hayden Rivers. Emory is the proprietor of Worthy Entertainment, but when the story opens, she is standing in for her no-show DJ at a high-profile wedding reception. It’s a piece of cake, and Emory is in her element handling the music for the reception activities. However, she finds herself caught up in the traditional bouquet catch. I’ll allow you to discover how that happened.

Also, at this highly touted wedding reception is “Groomsman Number Four,” Hayden Rivers, director of a nonprofit organization that assists young Black men in Miami. As fate would have it, Emory and Hayden are together again (yes, I said again) as the catchers of the bouquet and garter. Emory is not happy with this unexpected reunion, because their past is clouded by one of them being ghosted. Sorry fans, no tea here. You will have to read this entertaining Novella for yourself.

Through an act of Mother Nature, the entire wedding party finds themselves at the plush wedding venue longer than expected. It was just long enough for Emory and Hayden to have that all important “Come-to-Jesus” conversation over s’mores. You’ll get that when you read the story.

I enjoyed this heartwarming and engaging story, and I know you will also. I do love a good second chance at love story, and
PETALS & PLAYLISTS hits every bullet point.
