HUNTED - Sharon C. Cooper
REVIEWER: Brenda Larnell RATING: A
REVIEW: Prolific author, Sharon C. Cooper, welcomes readers back to Atlanta, Georgia with another engaging story about one of Atlanta’s finest. She has entertained her readers with intriguing stories about these fine men of Supreme Security since we were introduced to Mason Bennett, A PASSIONATE KISS (2016). Former CIA spy, Myles Carrington, a member of the security team of Supreme, is featured in this story along with his love interest, Geneva Ramsey. The story begins with a murder that draws the reader in for a riveting nonstop whodunnit mystery.
Myles Carrington is a hunted man who is haunted by his past. Even though he was very careful to protect his real identity, he had no guarantees that it would not be compromised. In the Prologue, that’s exactly what happened to his former partner and mother of his son, Collin. I’ll allow you to discover the details surrounding the demise of Whitney, Myles’ ex-CIA partner. Her death forces him to re-examine his spy days and compels him to track down (with the help of the team from Supreme) the person responsible. Aside from that, Myles is in a relationship with Geneva, a beautiful, outspoken, gregarious woman with a checkered past. She is also dealing with adversity when her hair salon business is destroyed. In addition to his personal dilemma, Myles is forced to utilize his skills as an ex-spy and the help of his team to find out who is threatening the woman who has a grip on his heart. I loved how this character did not miss a beat in defending and protecting his woman. Needless to say, Myles and Geneva’s chemistry is off the chart with intense physical and emotional attraction.
The minor characters contribute to the intrigue of the story and the development of the main characters. Some of these characters composed of the Supreme Security and their wives had Myles and Geneva’s backs all the way. I loved seeing the team in action as they supported the hero and heroine. Mason and London (A PASSIONATE KISS), Hamilton and Dakota (VINDICATED), Laz and Journey (INDEBTED), Kenton and Egypt (ACCUSED), Angelo and Zenobia (BETRAYED) all contributed to the successful outcome of this thriller. I would be remiss if I did not mention another minor character who has a defining role in the story. His name is Reuben, a former gang member and bad guy, who has redeeming qualities. I’ll let that marinate with you to discover when you read the story.
I liked this story! Sharon C. Cooper has written a romantic thriller that is a real page-turner. HUNTED is a worthy addition to the Atlanta’s Finest Series, and I recommend it for your reading enjoyment. It’s the sixth book of this series, and it can be read as a stand-alone. If you haven’t already, become acquainted with the stories of these fine men of Atlanta. You will not be disappointed.
