REVIEW: In DANGER IN THE NEVADA DESERT, author Denise N. Wheatley takes readers back to the West Coast. There is a serial killer on the loose and when Sergeant Charlotte Bowman request assistance from Detective Miles Love, she is glad when he agrees to assist as he had just dealt with a similar case, the Smiley Face killer.  The attraction between the two had always been sizzling in the background, so this allows them to explore the possibilities as well as work the case.

Charlotte is the typical Wheatley heroine - strong, confident and good at her job and while she tends to be rash at times and put herself at risk, I don’t necessary see that as a flaw but see her as a woman who is determined to find a ruthless killer. On the other hand, Miles is cautious, but just as determined to find the killer and is the perfect partner for Charlotte. The search for the serial killer has many twists and turns, and I did not discover the identity of the killer, until the final reveal. Good pacing and a vivid sense of place, along with the solid characterization, add to the appeal of this latest release.

Book #2 in the
A West Coast Crime Story Series, DANGER IN THE NEVADA DESERT, has non-stop action and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I read the book in one sitting and was engrossed from beginning to end. The suspense and the romance are well-balanced and although the Intrigue line is more focused on the suspense, the romance does not feel forced. Fans of romantic suspense will enjoy every aspect of this book. I did and I have no hesitation in recommending DANGER IN THE NEVADA DESERT to fans of romantic suspense. Fans of Ms. Wheatley will be happy with this entry. The next book, HOMICIDE AT VINCENT VINEYARD will be out in December 2023. I can’t wait to revisit the west coast!
