REVIEW: I just love a good romantic suspense story, and Patricia Sargeant, award winning and national best-selling author, has written a tense and intriguing story that is set in Sedona Arizona. In this story we meet up with the Colton family of Arizona who have constructed, designed and opened an exclusive luxury resort complete with a five-star restaurant and private bungalows. If you are seeking privacy, comfort, luxury, and beauty in one sport, the Mariposa Resort & Spa is the place to go. That’s where we meet Maxwell “Max” Powell III, a celebrity chef who needs just what the Mariposa offers to get away from the spotlight in order to create new recipes for his upcoming cookbook. He is also looking forward to reuniting with his college friend, Adam Colton, co-owner of the Mariposa with two of his siblings.
Before Max checks in to the Mariposa, he has an unsettling phone conversation with his long-time assistant, Sarah. Stick a pin there. When he checks in, he encounters the captivating and effortlessly beautiful Senior Concierge, Alexis Reed. Max and Alexis become a couple who are subjected to sabotage, stalking, and spies, Oh my! The tension begins to build from the first chapter when Max is forced to admit that he is being stalked when a mysterious box addressed to him turns up at the resort. As you read this story, the tension and suspense build to the point that the twists and unexpected turns turn into real threats and danger. Alexis, because of her and Max’s budding relationship, finds herself a target of the life-threatening consequences that came with being with Max. However, she never wavered.
The Coltons, Adam, Laura, and Joshua are great minor characters who are involved in their own fight to keep the Mariposa out of their father’s hands. You will get that when you read the story. The master of all the mayhem is a jaw-dropper. I can’t wait until you read the story. I love how the story ended for Alexis and Max’s relationship. Sedona is definitely the place for them to take everything to the next level.
