REVIEW: I just love the Jenkins family of Cincinnati, Ohio! Prolific and talented author, Sharon C. Cooper presents her readers with the fifth story in the Jenkins & Sons Construction Series, BID ON LOVE. This story features Benjamin “Ben” Jenkins, Jr. and Mahogany Rowsey. Ben is now in a supervisory position from his usual position in the company as painter because one of the cousins is still out on maternity leave. Mahogany, who resides in Chicago, is in Cincinnati to oversee a big project for a nightclub that Jenkins and Sons Construction bid on. I love when Ben and Mahogany meet without either knowing their connection to the project. It is lust at first sight, and I’ll just leave it right there.

The Jenkins family is huge, and they are all very present and supportive (in their own way) in this story from the Grandparents to the young children. That’s another reason this story is so engaging. The roles of Ben’s charming son, Jayden, and Mahogany’s sweet niece, Bella, are significant in the love journey of Ben and Mahogany. Another plus is the way the Jenkins’ family closes ranks when one of them is being threatened. The “Sunday Brunch” scene when Ben’s ex wife and Jayden’s mother, Lenay, shows up unexpectedly when she gets word that Ben is seeing Mahogany is proof of that fact. Love that scene! I can’t leave out the scene when Mahogany’s ex-fiancé, Winston, shows up very unexpectedly to win Mahogany back at another Jenkins’ family get together. Author Sharon C. Cooper does a great job getting the reader to wonder, “What’s next?”!

The Epilogue houses a great HFN for Ben and Mahogany. What starts out as an “One night. No commitment. No regrets” affair, evolves into another love match for the Jenkins family to add to the wall. You’ll get that when you read the story.

BID ON LOVE is an entertaining and engrossing story that highlights one of the premier African American Romance book families. I recommend it for your reading pleasure, along with the other four books in this series: LOVE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PROPOSAL FOR LOVE, A LESSON ON LOVE, AND UNPLANNED LOVE. You can thank me later.
