REVIEW: I love a good series, especially one that features a family. Fans of Sharon C. Cooper, an award-winning author, is known for her outstanding Jenkins Family Series. BELIEVING IN YOU premieres a new book family, the Priestly’s of Chicago, Illinois. Debuting in this series is Nyla Elizabeth Priestly, sister of Cree, Dorian, Essence, and Zion. Nyla is on a mission to become the owner of Moody Days Jazz Club where she is presently the manager. Nyla is so super-focused on her dream to become the owner that she has sold her car, given up her apartment, moved in with her sister, Cree, and poured every penny she makes into her savings to become the sole proprietor. She is also working a second job at Telecom Solutions, an IT company. That’s where she meets “the hella fine” Harrison Grant, her boss. While Harrison is moody and reserved, Nyla is outgoing and bubbly. However, we know that opposites attract.

There’s a reason for Harrison’s guarded personality that you will learn more about when you read the story. It’s poignant and powerful, and affects how Harrison lives his life. Harrison did time for a crime he did not commit. It’s riveting! As he and Nyla get to know each other, Nyla becomes the catalyst that helps Harrison regain his trust in people, including his family. I can’t wait for you to read Harrison’s backstory. Not only does Nyla help Harrison with his dilemma, but Harrison also helps Nyla with her dream. I love this couple as they work out their insecurities and issues together.

Side characters abound, but first, I must point out that the inimitable Jenkins family is represented by Royce Jenkins who supports Harrison. The Priestly family matriarch, Virginia, is always ready with the best hugs. You’ll get that when you read the story. Jamie, Nylas’s bestie, sets our couple’s relationship in motion with a brilliant move. On the other hand, at the opposite end of this spectrum of side characters we have Harrison’s ex, Veronica, his brother, Geoffrey, and his mother, Nicole. Each of the three has been like a thorn in Harrison’s side. Nevertheless, Nyla and Harrison have a wonderful HFN of growth and healing.

BELIEVING IN YOU is a super start to a new series. It’s an urban romance with a heartbeat -tender and emotional. Yes, I loved the story! You will too! I recommend BELIEVING IN YOU for your reading pleasure.
