REVIEW: AUDRA: The Prequel is Audra Connor and Damon Fosters’ origin story. Damon is a major league baseball player who is enjoying his celebrity status. He is a playboy who is not looking for love. Audra is a single mom who enjoys her career and family. In the past, she experienced a painful break up with her ex who is mostly an absentee father to their daughter. A man, especially someone who is known for dating multiple women, is the last thing on her mind. That is until she attends a social event at Damon’s house with her friend. Once they see each other from across the room, they are drawn to each other. Audra doesn’t know who Damon is and that makes him even more intrigued. Despite being attracted to Damon, Audra is not interested. Damon showers Audra with flowers and gifts to get what he wants, and what he wants is her.
Audra and Damon have a cute courtship and take the time to get to know each other. The scene where Damon meets the Connor-Santana family is well written. I expected Ethan to be in big brother mode and interrogate Damon. Her brother Thiago is in rare form also. Damon is up for the challenge and doesn’t back down. Audra’s daughter Kerilyn is cute. It was interesting to see the Connor-Santana family interact as a family unit, especially considering the characters in the series that have already been explored. Ms. Diamond explores Damon’s painful past and how being with Audra helps him heal in a way. Audra has trust issues that lead to a misunderstanding. We know that Audra and Damon make their way to HEA; it’s just a matter of how they get there.
It was nice to learn more about Audra and Damon. I didn’t connect with them as much in this origin story as I did while reading the original book, AUDRA, which I refer to as their reconciliation story. I started connecting with them more as they worked through their conflict. Overall, I recommend AUDRA: The Prequel.
