REVIEW: THIS TENDER MELODY is the first one in the Gentlemen of Queen City series and it highlights our hero, Darius Winstead, who was once a hot commodity in the world of technology, but who sold his smartphone operating system for an insane amount of money. When the story opens, he is the bassist for a jazz quartet, The Queen City Gents, and living a life unencumbered by office politics and meetings.

On the other hand, our heroine, Eve Franklin, is a technology executive in her family’s very successful software firm, and looking forward to, one day, stepping into the CEO position occupied by her father. When asked to come back to the tech world, specifically the Franklin business by Eve’s father, Darius has no idea that he is usurping Eve’s dream of being the HLIC (head lady in charge). Conflict? You betcha. Will Eve and Darius find a way to work together to continue the success of the business? How will Eve and Darius contain their growing “workplace” attraction to each other. Those questions are answered when you read the book.

THIS TENDER MELODY spotlights the Queen City, Charlotte, North Carolina as its setting. The easy pace of this story correlates with the easy pace of this southern city.

Kudos to Kianna Alexander on her debut story for Harlequin Kimani Romance. It’s a great read, and I look forward to reading the other Gents’ stories.
