REVIEW:  Fans of the Wolf Pack series written by Maureen Smith have received a special treat with this I promise you that serves as a sequel to TEMPT ME AT MIDNIGHT, the story of Quentin Reddick and Lexi Austin. In THIS I PROMISE YOU, the couple is enjoying married life and parenthood in the ATL. This Southern setting is so apropos because the characters are upwardly mobile, African American professionals who exude Southern charm. While Lexi and Quentin are experiencing a wonderful, idyllic life together, the proverbial fly in the ointment appears in the form of family. We learn about Quentin’s mother’s (Georgina) side of the family, whom she had been estranged from for over forty years. Even Lexi’s ex-husband Adam makes a rather unfortunate appearance.

The presence, importance and permanence of family and friends is a recurring theme that runs throughout this story. We get a chance to become reacquainted with members of the Morehouse Nine, longtime friends from college days, and the prominent Wolf family. Smith, in her unique style, also reunites characters (from her other stories) who have become connected through marriage and family ties. You just know that there are many more stories that will be told.

Notwithstanding the family & friends theme, this is a very sexy story! The sexual chemistry between Lexi and Quentin is smoking hot! Maureen Smith is a master at giving us, romance addicts, steamy love scenes. THIS I PROMISE YOU delivers! I highly recommend this novel. Not only does it have one of the best ‘happily-ever-after’ endings I’ve ever read, but it also serves as a bridge that holds the promise of connecting more stories involving the Wolf Pack and the Morehouse Nine, and other side characters mentioned in this book. Get the book; I promise you won’t be disappointed!
